It makes me sick to fill up the car and pay such high prices. It is really throwing a wrench in our summer plans. We were going to do a road trip back to
Illinois/Wisconsin, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen with gas prices heading up, up, up.

I know we're trying to figure the best way for us to get down to Georgia (all the way from western Canada) to see my family this summer. We were going to
drive but, we think that flying down would be cheapest. That stinks because we like to see places/sites along the way. Although, we would be flying into
Orlando (long story) and that would give me a chance to sidle over to DTD to get some pins.

I am so glad we went to MI when we did! Even tho it would have been nicer in the summer, gas would have been killer.
My store did drop .03 WHOLE CENTS today. $3.48 with the kroger card. |

Not only is gas getting on my nerves but I went to the grocery store today and I bought the same stuff I always buy but my bill was $50 more than usual.

It's so expensive to live in Orange County/SoCal anyway, that we just roll with the punches I guess. DH did freak a bit when his premium gas was $4.03 a
gallon though!

Gas is awful! I remember when I started driving back in 98/99 gas was .99! It took less than $15 to fill up my car. I have a different car, but same sized gas
tank now and it's around $37. I take lots of road trips to go to concerts too. When you figure the gas into the price of the ticket, hotel rooms, food,
etc. it starts adding up so fast.

Gas prices do not make me a happy camper - on the other hand my options for dealing with it are limitted. I cant change the price of fuel so all I could do is
get a more gas efficient vehicle.. which I won't do until I absolutely cannot afford to drive this one. Yes I drive a big guy GMC 1500 but let's face
it you can't tow a 20ft trailer with a sub compact or haul 8x4 sheets of plywood or lumber in one.. so I just try not to let it bother me too much and make
sure that when I do make a trip to town I get Everything I need in one trip - We only have 1 grocery store in town so they really gouge on prices and it's
still cheaper to drive to the next town and get everything done in one trip than to buy stuff in town and pay sometimes tripple what other stores are charging
for the same items. I just try to be more aware of how often I go to town. The other thing I've noticed myself doing though is looking into public
transporation for longer trips. I'm finding it can be cheaper to take a bus or train than to drive (depending on how many people are travelling) Took the
train down to Anaheim and it was a 6 hour ride but it was relaxing and saved me about 20$ off a one way trip over if I'd driven.

What are you all paying for gas? We can still buy it for around $3.45 a gallon in Boise.

Gas here is 3.99 a gallon however if I drive an hour up the road or down the road to the tourist towns I can get it for about 3.80 to 3.87 a gallon (which is a
long way to get gas but that's also where the miniature shops and leather shops are so when I need craft supplies I fill up the tank too! :)

Gas is around $3.58+ here in Maine now. It drives me crazy alright. With gas prices as high as they are and gas companies making BILLIONS of dollars in profits
each quarter now, something needs to be done.

Ours is $3.65 now. Could change (and does!) from day to day. I hate the fact that I have to commute an hour each way to work, but I just can't seem to
sprout wings and fly yet. I do carpool with another teacher, which cuts weekly costs in half, but it costs me around $57 to fill up each time.

"Regular" gas is around $3.80 at Costco and about 5 cents more at other stations. Premium is over $4. The cheapest gas around is actually near
Disneyland ;)

Sure, the oil companies are making Billions, but they are doing nearly a Trillion in sales. In reality, they are making less than 10% profit on their
investment. It's easy to look at a number like $40 billion and vilify the 'faceless' corporation, but would it really be fair to take their profit?
It's that profit that keeps peoples 401k's, stock, and retirement portfolios afloat. One investigation after another has shown there is no evidence of
gouging. Oil prices are high for two reasons, high demand and a slipping USD. Most people don't realize that the price of a barrel of oil (42 gallons), is
linked to the USD. So when the $ slips aginst other currencies, the $ price goes up. It's not 'Big Oil's' fault. It's just economics.

Well said, Goon!! We've been very lucky to have such inexpensive fuel prices for so long now. I, too, wish gas prices were less, but it doesn't look
like they are going to migrate down too much. After all, supply and demand are driving the prices where they are and there is not any incentive to go down. Gas
here is $3.59 for regular unleaded.

Ok, ready for this? Here in Calgary we pay $1.25 a liter for gas...well, there are 4 liters in a gallon so that would be $5.00 a gallon here. It irks me
because Alberta is oil country and we pay so much for our own product. It doesn't seem right.
I drive a VW Beetle and it costs me $53.00 to fill it up.

Tell me about it. I was standing there the whole time praying for the nozzle to click off. My husband drives our minivan and I have no idea how much it costs
to fill it up, not sure I really want to know.

Here in Southern Indiana, the price has been hovering anywhere from $3.59 to $3.69.
This very weekend, I had to drive to the northern end of the state, about 25 miles or so from Chicago, to Merrillville, Indiana. Gas was, surprisingly, pretty much the same price all up and down the state. I saw highs of $3.89, but only in a couple of places, remote spots that were far from highly populated areas, and a couple of stations JUST off the interstate where we were staying. Funny thing, though, just a mile down the road, the prices dropped back down to $3.65-$3.69. Noooooo, they're not gouging or anything just because they're near the interstate.... But, like most people say, whattaya gonna do? Like a lotta folk, I commute about 35 miles one way every day, I don't carpool, and it costs me between $80 - $100 per week. I'm just thankful that my job pays me enough to afford that. Does This Signature Make My Butt Look Big?

I feel you Schmitty. But for so long as I've been alive, gas has always been more expensive next to the big highways. Of course, at this point, what's
another dime? An extra $1.60 a tankfull?
Be glad you don't live in the UK. It's nearly $10 a gallon.

Here in Oregon, where we get our gas, it is $3.51 (and they have to pump it for you), but I have seen it at $3.65 at other stations around town.
