Can't stand matt...his eyes/eyebrows bug the bajeezus out of me! I don't much care for Ben either. How could you want to get rid of Gordon?! I love
that man! *sigh* Him and Anthony Bourdain can cook for me anytime. I do have to wonder if Gordon's wife cooks for him. I'd be scared to, afraid
he'd yell at me and spit my food out.

Matts eyebrows bug me too! He always looks like he is on the verge of tears And WOW does he whine!!!! Was it jsut me of did you all get the impression on the week b4 last that someone was coming back to the show.... I did I was trying to guess who it was.... I waited the entire show last week to see who it would be. If anyone caught the last season I thought it would be the woman who cooked at waffle house that they kicked off at end, made it all the way to like last 3... anyway I thought it was her. Am I just imaging things???

Yay...Ben's gone. That guy was an idiot. Did you hear his comment about that girl's weave when Gordon announced the girls reward? What a jerk. I
still can't stand Matt and every time he said something when Ben was getting chewed out I kept saying "Shut up Matt!" I really can't tell
who's more annoying, him or Ben. It really is a toss up.

I think Ben was a talent, yet he was far too cocky for my taste. Yes, his insults to Jen and some of the others were very unprofessional and uncalled for. And
still Matt clings on, although he did do much better this week...

Caution! The Following is a Thought Provoking Rant by a Goon!
This is the first season of HK I've watched, and it may be the last. I've watched all of Kitchen Nightmares (both BBC and US versions), and really admire Ramsay for his culinary passion, straightforward observations, and business sense. He seems to genuinely invest himself in the businesses of perfect strangers and pulls out all the stops to help them succeed. HK paints a radically different image of Gordon, one that makes me seriously question his character. First, I want to comment on the show in general. It's a reality show, and FOX knows every trick in the book to manipulate the audience's perception of characters. From fiddling with time (do you think each episode takes place in the same day?), the order of events, and even the selective use of sound-bites, it's all geared for maximum reaction. That being said, who are these bumbling idiots posing as contestants? Seriously, they act like they they've never cooked at a professional level before. The amateur nature of the mistakes are simply laughable. Raw/unseasoned/sloppy food. Seriously, I could give a wart-hog's behind (sorry Pumba) about these people. Obviously any decent chef wouldn't touch this venue with a extra long pair of tongs. So what we are left with are some desperate wanna-be's. Which brings me to this weeks kick-off, Ben. If I had to choose, I'd actually put Ben above most of the others. Gordon seems to have singled him out for unknown reason. He got screamed at for trying to get is team excited and motivate them, he had to scoop horse poo, and play personal servant to the red team. YET, he was the one responsible for the Blue team's challenge wins with the near-perfect fish weight, sweet-16 dishes, AND they would have won the pizza challenge (which Ben was forced to deliver) had Gordon not discovered that Ben was responsible. Do you really think there was dirt in the mushrooms? The pattern leads me to believe that Ben got shafted by Gordon. Ben hit the nail on the head when he complained about Gordon's screaming and ranting causing people to become flustered. I especially admired his parting remark that he did his best and wasn't going to suck up, which is probably why Gordon didn't like him. Which brings me to my final point. Who is the biggest loser in HK? I say Gordon Ramsay. I feel like his abilities as a chef have been surpassed by his self-created celebrity and ego. I find little wonder in the fact that two of his restaurants have closed recently. His behavior oh HK is that of a rude, nasty, chaotic, mean, foul, unprofessional, tyrannical, jerk (I'll stop there). For him to bully the staff because food comes back from the customer is absurd since HE allowed it to be sent in first place. It's entirely his fault that Vanessa burned herself by virtue of the chaos and panic he causes. To add insult to her injury, his whole attitude was essentially 'oh well'. The tantrums he throws are simply inexcusable. If I were in a workplace and someone (superior or otherwise) was throwing things at me, well, let's say it wouldn't be pretty for them. In the end, you have to ask yourself. If you were a contestant in HK, which the prize is to work for Ramsay, would you actually want to work for him? I'd tell him to go #%$$ off. No matter which way you slice it, Gordon has lost his way. Either he really is a huge jerk (in the kitchen at least), or he is letting FOX depict him as one. He needs to go back to his kitchens, and stay there for at least a year or two. One final note. I would never pay $200 for a pizza. I don't care if Gordon made it with his own two hands. So far as I'm concerned, dining doesn't get any better than Disney. The price, quality, service, and atmosphere are the absolute best. Anything more is an over-priced, pretentious waste. I'll take Le Cellier over any Ramsay restaurant any day.

CG, I agree with ya on everything. My beef with Ben was his attitude and cockiness. I, too, have watched pertnear everything Ramsay has been in (I love
him!). I tell myself that this is 'reality' tv and we all know that things are edited and fixed and sometimes staged. I'd like to think that
he's really not as bad an a*hole that they lead you to believe, I get this from watching his other shows and after reading Tony Bourdains books I know that
working in a kitchen is no place for virgin ears and you definately cannot wear your heart on your sleeve. Ramsay does go overboard, though and while you are
chewing out your fellow chef in the kitchen you still have respect for that chef. I don't get that with Ramsay which is why I said before that I
wouldn't want to cook for him, even if I were his wife! Then again, he is very civil and personable when he goes out with the winners on their rewards.
At the same time, these contestants surely knew what they were signing up for. I do think the nastiness is all about the ratings. Does anyone watch Top Chef? These guys know how to cook...why doesn't Ramsay get the same caliber of contestants? I have a hard time believing any of the chefs on Hells Kitchen are professional chefs. |

Heather, I know exactly what you mean. I love to cook, just ask MOAE. But I'll NEVER do it for a living. You bust you butt for 6 nights a week, 12+ hour
days, and for what? The pay is terrible, the work is hard and hot, and you never get any time off. I've read Ramsay's books, so I can cut the guy a
little slack, but I'm just shocked by his behavior in HK. It's one thing when he's going after a slacker (I cheer him on), but in HK he creates so
much chaos. What is he thinking doing this show? These contestants are bums. They all chain smoke, back stab, can't identify a truffle, and serve raw food.
And he's going to make one of them the executive chef of his new LA outfit? I can't believe he thinks this is a good thing for his 'brand'.
Of course, if he had better contestants, he wouldn't need to throw a tantrum, and that might not be entertaining. I'm going to have to find the BBC episodes and see how different he is with this format without FOX.
Now you shall deal with ME.....as delegated by her Evilness.
