Monday was Carolina's last day and we had a lot to do. Olivia was given a load of stuff to do to keep her out of trouble, including some of the cleaning duties. While Carolina and I were downstairs sorting out the weekly order we watched with surprise on the CCTV camera as Olivia took the chocolates of a shelf - preened her hair and checked her make-up in a mirror and then replaced the chocolates without cleaning the shelves!! Carolina had a word with her. But she still did it and things like that several more times that day. Carolina left on Monday (she flies home to Italy in a weeks time) and it was all rather sad....
and I was left with Olivia on my own on tuesday. She turned up at 10.05 when we open at 10. I'd already started the daily cleaning duties and she got in an immediate mood with me when I told her to finish the cleaning. I had emails to customers and clients to reply to. She didn't do any cleaning. It took me almost 2 hours to get her to fill some chocolate trays. I didn't want to nag her but, she wasn't doing any work!! After Olivia changed the music to some rock music (a big no-no) I had strong words with her, and she really argued back. I went downstairs to calm down and watched her put her head on the marble counter and try to sleep. Oh and then she took off her shoes and put her feet on the lower glass shelf where there are chocolates!! (I removed them from sale)
Seriously angry as she continued to do nothing for a while till a customer came in I emailed Raffaella to let her know I was having difficulties again with Olivia. She was very supportive and said I had her full backing if it got to the point to send her home or she would 'pop' over if I needed and not let on I asked her to. I coped....through another argument, trying to her to do some work, correcting her when she tried to give a 50% discount to her "friend" (not gonna happen) and her being so distracted with her friend in the shop she messed up several transactions on the till, and undercharged an expensive item too. I had at one point I also said to her "let's clear the air and start again, it's your last day and I dont' want to argue, just get through today and get my tasks done too". Ceasefire for a while....
We parted on ok terms at 6.30, I wished her luck and success in her A Level results and University course and she wished me luck as a manager etc etc.
All over....or so I thought...Just me and Cristina in today and I had a big meeting this morning with Raffy and the other managers. It went on till gone 2 and as soon I could I sent cristina downstairs for lunch. I told her to take extra time as she'd worked hard while I'd been in the meeting. When she finished I went for lunch. I put the kettle on and went to the computer to check messages etc. Cristina had been checking her Facebook while on lunch and forgot to close it. I was going to close it for her when on screen I noticed that Olivia has sent Cristina an intant message over Facebook and she was happily discussing me...(hard not to notice your name all over the screen)
If she had simply moaned about me being hard on her or whatever, I could have handled that. But it shocked and upset me when I saw that she had told Cristina that "I spent my last day arguing with mel hahahahah and she was trying to be nice with me but I didn't really care as I went through mel's mobile phone when she was upstairs hahahah but don't tell her"
I was appalled. I usually keep my phone in my bag so there is a good chance she went through my bag to get it, and to be honest, my phone, the texts and pictures etc on it are private. She had no right to do that......I didn't know what to do. So I called Raffy. She was disgusted too and asked me to speak to Cristina, explain she wasn't in trouble and to call Raffy. Poor Cristina....when I showed her she thought she was in trouble for leaving Facebook open. When she realised what Olivia had done I thought she was going to cry! She was soooo sweet to me for the rest of the day (she's sweet anyway but...) and she hugged me lots and shook her head and tutted about Olivia a lot.....
My recommendation to the company was not to take her back in 2 weeks for casual work. She cannot be trusted and doesn't pull her weight. Gerry (director) called me and said after seeing the message they had decided to call Gross Misconduct and were taking disciplinary procedures. So I have to prepare a lot for that tomorrow....just so stressful and she's so silly for being so immature. She'll never get a reference from Rococo now and she's about to go to Uni and apply for jobs etc....very silly!!
So that was my week so far....thought I'd give you something to read for 10 minutes lol!! Can't believe my first solo week as manager already....christmas will be easy!! Thanks for listening to me dribble on.....
