We received an exciting letter from Scoop Sanderson, Main Street, U.S.A.® Reporter. From his news office on Main Street, Scoop wrote the following:

"EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

Scoop On Assignment recently in Liberty Square for the Main Street Gazette once again found himself in the Séance Salon at The Haunted Mansion Attraction. There, just as before, he was beckoned by the voice of Madame Leota, who told him of a fabulous lanyard just dripping with "out of this world" pins! The lanyard belongs to Happy Haunt Spook Witherspoon, and alas, it has become too heavily laden with the tiny treasures for him to move freely throughout the afterlife. Attendees of the 999 Happy Haunts Ball first met Spook Witherspoon, The Ghost Host with the Most, five years ago on October 25th, and ever since he has been Pin Trading Around the Nether World.

The highly superstitious Scoop fears that if he wears the lanyard in such close proximity to The Haunted Mansion Attraction, some creepy creep may decide he wants it for himself. What if Spook decides to return to take it back? What if the Headless Horseman tries to snatch it off Scoop's neck, and rides off with more than just pins?! Scoop has made contact with Spook through Madame Leota, and has received a message from beyond that a recipient for this extraterrestrial treasure shall provide a final resting place for his lanyard to rest in peace!

Start by finding Scoop Sanderson on Main Street, U.S.A.® before the clock strikes 10:31 a.m. on Sunday Morning, October 25, 2009 to play Spook's Lucky Lanyard Pursuit.

Here is the first clue:

Get the Genie - Get your wish!
Get Hop Lo from Chinese dish!
Stitch will be there on your list
But first there's got to be a Twist
Dumbo's gone - he had to fly
So don't forget his Little Guy.

Find five pins. (It takes ambition!)
The magic Spell's an apparition!

Find Scoop displaying the correct pins in the correct order on your lanyard, but do not speak! Scoop will recognize that you are playing the lanyard pursuit, and give you your next clue to advance. You must find Scoop by 11:15 a.m. to advance in your pursuit!

As a reminder, Theme Park admission to Magic Kingdom® Park will be required.

Thanks to everyone who attended Scoop's special pin gathering on Sunday. The lanyard pursuit gave everyone a challenging quest filled with clues and puzzles, and we were impressed by the resourcefulness of everyone. For those who were playing along at home, the answer to the first clue provide by Scoop was to spell "Ghost" with the alphabet pins from the recent Hidden Mickey collection.

Oliver (The "twist" was a reference to Oliver Twist, the book in which Oliver and Company was based on) = O
Stitch = S
Timothy (Dumbo's friend from the Walt Disney film) = T

As a follow up to a preview we presented in August, we received pin samples for the upcoming Walt Disney World® Then & Now series and they look great!

You'll notice that the "then" side is in a metal finish with no color, and the "now" side is in full color. It's been great to revisit some of our favorite older attractions in this series and we think the series will be a fun way for Guests to discover the history of the Theme Parks.

The pins include Mickey Mouse at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Chip and Dale at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Stitch at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, and Tinker Bell at the Treehouse Villas at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

Just like with all Disney Vacation Club pins, members will need to present a valid ID in order to purchase these pins. Look for this set to be released sometime in December.

Pin collectors might recognize these pins, as they were originally released at the Walt Disney World® Resort on October 8 as part of the Marquee Collection.. We've often heard from our Guests that they would love the opportunity to purchase our theme park pins at home. Both Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® Resort have operated mail order services for years which allow Guests to buy merchandise over the phone (as those who read the full entries for each of our pins would know), but now it's easier than ever with the Disney Parks Store Website. In the future, look for more select limited edition pins to be available online.
